Zayne Woodworth

2nd Place

This was Zayne's first trip to NUWAY Nationals. Zayne didn't disapoint, making it all the way to the finals and bringing home All American status on his first ever national event.

Congrats Zayne, on making it to the finals at the 2022 NUWAY Nationals and bringing home 2nd place!!!

Maxwell Pulis

5th Place

This was Mawell's first trip to NUWAY Nationals. Mawell lost in the blood round and had to wrestle back to make the podium. No Problem for Maxwell as he put on his hard hat and won the next 2 matches to get that spot on the podium, bringing home All American status at his first NUWAY National event.

Zayne Woodworth

2022 NYWAY State Champion

Our first NYWAY State Champion of the weekend was Zayne Woodworth. Not only did Zayne win the State Championship, he also won NYWAY's MOW Award for Division 2.

In the first round Zayne went up against maybe the 2nd best wrestler in the bracket, a kid who already made a name for himself on the youth circuit. Zayne quickly found himself in a 3-0 hole. But Zayne was determined. Zayne held his composure and got the take down, throwing his opponent to his back for the pin. Zayne then went onto pining his way through the bracket and securing his first State Title the MOW award.

Zayne has been nothing short of amazing in his first season on the mats. He only has 1 loss on his record and he has since avenged that loss multiple times. Can't wait to see what the future holds for him. Something tells me, this won't be his last state title.

Clint Dwyer

2022 NYWAY State Champion

Clint Dwyer won his first NYWAY State Championship this past weekend in Long Island. This has been a long time coming. Clint has been nothing short of dominate this year. Clint went into NYWAY States ranked #1 in the State at the 8&U 75lb weight class and he showed everybody exactly why he has that #1 ranking.

Clint dominated his bracket, pinning his way to his first ever NYWAY Championship. Clint even pinned the wrestler ranked #2 in the 8&U 75lb weight class. Clint was dominate. Something tells me this won't be his last NYWAY State Championship.

Kellan Winters

2022 NYWAY State Champion

Kellan Winters took home his 2nd NYWAY State Championship this past weekend. Kellan has been on a mission to bring home his 2nd State Title and he did just that by going 5-0 at NYWAY States and securing his 2nd State Title. Kellan went into NYWAY States ranked #1 at 8&U 50lbs and didn't disappoint.

Logan Willis

2022 NYWAY State Champion

Logan Willis brought home his first ever NYWAY State Championship in Long Island this past weekend. He was spectacular on the day.

Logan means everything to this club. He bleeds Brawler Blue. On the day he wasn't wrestling, he was running around helping us coach the kids that look up to him. Logan is a true leader.

But Sunday, that was his day. Logan was determined to bring home that State Title and he went to work to secure it. Logan pinned 2 of his first 3 opponent's and made his way to the finals. In the finals, Logan was in a tough match. With 12 seconds left in the first, Logan shot his low single and went to work, coming out the back door and putting his opponent on his back for 2. Logan was now up 4-0. That 12 seconds, helped Logan win a close 5-2 match and secure his first ever NYWAY State Championship.

Nico Bresadola

2022 NYWAY State Finalist

Nico Bresadola took 2nd place at NYWAY States and became a NYWAY All State Wrestler for the first time in his career. Nico went into the tournament ranked #1 and cruised his way to the finals where he ran into the #2 ranked wrestler at this weight. Nico had beaten him twice this year by very close scores. Nico didn't end up on top at the end of this match, with some controversial calls but that is part of the sport.

Nico had an outstanding NYWAY State Tournament coming up just short of that championship. This will only add fuel to his fire as he goes back to the wrestling room and works harder toward that goal of becoming a NYWAY State Champion.

Maxwell Pulis

2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler - 3rd Place

Maxwell Pulis took 3rd place at NYWAY States and for the first time in his career, he is now a NYWAY All State Wrestler.

Maxwell has improved and learned so much in just a few months. He is definitely learning fast. Maxwell wrestled his heart out at NYWAY States. He almost made the finals, just barely losing in over time. He then proceeded to the consolation rounds, avenging a loss he had earlier in the year and cruising his way to a 3rd place finish. Great job Maxwell!!!

Carter Pollock

2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler - 4th Place

Carter Pollock took 4th place at NYWAY States. This was his first State Championship tournament and he impressed. In a large bracket Carter went 2-2 on the day and secured his spot on the podium to become a NYWAY All State Wrestler.

Carter has improved so much this year and I expect to see him back on the podium next year. The sky is the limit for this kid.

Zachary Boudreau

2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler - 4th Place

Zach took 4th place this past weekend at NYWAY States and is now a 2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler. Zach has improved all year, having some big wins this year. He took that momentum into NYWAY States this past weekend and wrestled hard. He brought home 4th place and is now a 2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler.

Grayson Willis

2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler - 6th Place

Grayson Willis took 6th place at NYWAY States this past weekend and is now a 2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler. Grayson has improved all season long and is well deserving of this honor of being one of the 6 top wrestlers in his age/weight. Grayson has already hit the wrestling room hard, working to accomplish his goals for next year. I have no doubt that he will climb that podium next year.

Zekial Soltau

2022 NYWAY All State Wrestler - 6th Place

Zekial Soltau took 6th place at NYWAY States this past weekend. Zeeke had 1 goal this year, make that podium. Zekial wrestled his heart out going 3-3 beating out a former ranked wrestler and just coming up short against another former ranked wrestler to take 6th place. Zekial is right on the edge of breaking through. If Zekial hits the wrestling room hard this off-season then he can be at the top of the podium next season.

Easton Kingsley

This is a very special post to me. This is Easton's first every championship and HE earned it. The first time I saw Easton wrestle was at Watertown. He didn't win a match, in fact he hadn't won a match the whole year. He started with us that week and within 3 weeks he got his first win and took home 3rd place at BGA. Now, with only 5 weeks in the club, Easton took home his first Championship at the Mat Power Tournament. It was a special moment. His confidence has soared and this won't be his last championship, I can promise you that.

The improvement Carter has made on the mat is amazing. His footwork has improved, his hips have improved, his technique has improved. This kid has worked incredibly hard and you can see his whole attitude change as he finds success on the mat. Everything he works for during the week was on full display at the Mat Power Tournament as he dominated his bracket and brought home the Championship. I'm just so impressed with this kid, he continues to amaze me.

Wally has a 'take no prisoners' attitude when he competes and I love it. This kid comes to do one thing, wrestle. All the hard work Wallace puts into the practice room continues to pay off at every tournament. Wally dominated his bracket this past weekend and brought home what he came to get, the Mat Power Championship.

Nico has been absolutely amazing on the mat this year. Week after week he continues to prove why he is ranked #1 in the state for his age/weight. Nothing new this past weekend as Nico had a tough opponent in his bracket. But Nico wrestles tough opponents all the time. Nico put his head down, wrestled smart and pulled off the win and also took home the Mat Power Championship. Like I said, there's a reason he's ranked #1 in the state.

Chris is another one who quietly comes to practice, puts his head down and goes to work. This kid is an amazing wrestler who is right there about to break through. This was a huge step in that direction as he gave it everything he had and wrestled smart, leaving it all on the mat, earning himself the Mat Power Championship.

Troy has some of the toughest practice partners you could have in the wrestling room. Those partners have prepared him for the tournaments. He's seen the toughest kids already. Troy wrestled tough this past weekend as he took 2nd at the Mat Power Tournament.

Alex has come a long way from the beginning of the year. He is a first year wrestler and is improving fast. He still has a long way to go but he is competing at a high level right now. He wrestled extremely hard this past weekend as he took home 2nd place at the Mat Power Tournament.

Jacob Meyer

Jacob has been working hard and has big goals. He took home his first trophy this past weekend at Mat Power. He continues to improve but still has a long way to go, that journey is constant with Jacob as he looks to improve heading into states this weekend.

Kellan Winters

It's not too many times we don't see Kellan in the winners circle but this weekend was one of those times as Kellan went up against a kid who beat him earlier in the year. Kellan wrestled great against him coming up just short in a 4-0 loss. Kellan has already shaken off the loss and is getting ready for NYWAY States. He heads into States ranked #1 in his age/weight and has a great chance for a 2nd NYWAY State Championship.

Jagger has only been with the club for a short time but he fits right in with this great group of kids. He has improved greatly in the short time he has been here. This kid will see the winners circle very soon. He always wrestles as hard as he can and never gives up. That attitude helped him take 3rd at Mat Power. So proud of this kid.

Hunter Meyer

Hunter is as tough as they come. Practicing with some of the top kids in the state at Brawler Elite. Even though he came up short of his goals this week, you can see how far he has come. He lost yesterday to some of the top kids in the Region, but not before giving them a scare and showing them that Brawlers never give up, as he almost tied up the score at the end of one of the matches. He works hard every day in practice and is driven to be the best. That attitude will take you very far in this sport. Watch out for this kid.

Zach is a wrestler that is so close to breaking through. He had some heartbreaking, as close as they come, losses this past weekend. But a move here or a movement there and Zach would have been in the winners circle. But Zach is already back in the practice room, trying to improve and get ready for States. That's the attitude I'm looking for.

Carter has only been with us for a few weeks but the improvement he has made in that short period of time is incredible. This kid is a natural and he has excelled with us. He looks like a completely different wrestler. Every match this kid gives EVERYTHING he has. As soon as you tell him to do something he does it. Grayson had a wrestler in his bracket who has beaten him in the past, but every week Grayson improves. Grayson avenged his loss to bring home the BGA Championship. Grayson also helped this team take 1st place at the BGA Tournament with a perfect score!

Kellan had some tough kids in his bracket this week, but Kellan is just on a different level these days. Even though he's the smallest kid in the bracket that doesn't stop him. I couldn't be prouder of Wallace. Wallace has been with me since the summer and he was my 1st 'little guy', out of the 8 'little guys' I have right now. He has come so far since that first practice. Zayne dominated the rest of the match and brought home the BGA Championship and helped this team take 1st place at the BGA Tournament with a perfect score!

Zekial had some bigger kids in his bracket, but that doesn't intimidate Zeeke. Zeeke went out there and maintained his composure while dominating his bracket. The future is bright for Zeeke. Logan Willis

I couldn't be more proud of this kid. Logan had an outstanding varsity season. Taking 4th in Sectionals, he is now a All Section 3 Wrestler, and he is only in 8th grade. The sky is the limit for this kid. With a lightning fast low single, this kid will take you down as soon as the whistle blows. He is a coaches son, so you know he is a smart wrestler. Logan is one of the most dedicated wrestlers you will ever meet. He just finished out his Varsity season and he comes back and competes with us. I just love this kid. At BGA, Logan found himself in a bracket with some big boys. That madison rule can bite some kids. Logan took it all in stride and showed everyone why he is a All Section 3 Wrestler. Logan ripped through his bracket and brought home the BGA Championship, while helping his team take 1st place at the BGA Tournament with a perfect score!

Aiden Wright

Aiden is so close to breaking through. He is right there with some of the top wrestlers in his age/weight. I've seen a different Aiden compared to the kid I first saw in my room at the beginning of the season. He is more comfortable in this environment now. You are going to lose matches on the youth circuit. That is a fact. Its how you handle those loses and how you let those loses shape you, that will make you the wrestler you are yet to become. Success is not a destination, its a constant journey. This sport rewards the hard workers. Keep working hard and wrestling the best Aiden. You will be on top, I know it.

Hunter Meyer

Hunter is also right there with some of the top kids. This kid works extremely hard in practice and you can see how thirsty he is to learn. The future is bright for Hunter. Keep working hard and you will be on top.

You won't see a harder worker than Christopher. This kid gives it everything he has in practice and listens to everything. He is working hard on changing his wrestling style right now. He fits right in with the Brawler Elite family. This kid can beat anybody and he will, as he continues to improve every day.

Easton Kingsley

This is a special post to me. Easton has been with us now for a little more than 3 weeks. He had never won a match before this tournament. He is the smallest Brawler Elite wrestler we have (in size, not in heart). Easton worked extremely hard everyday since coming to Brawler Elite. All that hard work paid off as Easton got his first pin. The look on his face was priceless. The confidence went through the roof. Easton then went on to win 2 more matches, finishing the day 3-2, taking home 3rd place and his first ever trophy!!! The sky is the limit for this kid, he just needed a little more controlled practice environment.

Troy Wescott

3rd Place

Troy is a 1st year wrestler but you can see the potential he has. Troy is 9 and when you start that late, you feel like you are always trying to play catch up with everyone else. This kid is running as fast as he can through wrestling, but he will get there. Troy did outstanding this past weekend as he went 2-2 to take 3rd place. Troy was extremely close to taking 2nd place but lost a close one in OT. But win or lose, those are the matches he needs to be in, so he can get to where he wants to be.

Over Valentine's Day weekend a few Brawlers went down to The NAWE Heartbreak Duals. Most Brawlers competed in both the Duals and Individual. Clint wrestled up a weight in the dual and found the competition extremely tough. But when Clint wrestled his own age and weight in the tournament, nobody could touch him. He dominated the tournament to bring home the NAWE Heartbreak Championship.

Parker Mattice

Parker is one of the smallest wrestlers on our advanced team. He is always wrestling bigger and older kids but that only makes him better. Heart is what we measure, and Parker has a lot of it. Parker had a tough bracket but Parker's just as tough. Parker stepped up right when this team needed him to. Parker brought home 2nd place and was a huge part of this team bringing home the championship.

Meyer Brothers: Jacob and Hunter. These guys had some tough brackets at Finger Lakes. But neither give up, ever. Both Jacob and Hunter took 2nd place at Finger Lakes. They are a big part of why this club has taken 1st place as a team for the last 3 tournaments.

Alex took 3rd at Finger Lakes Regionals in a tough bracket. Two close over time matches led to two heartbreaking losses for Alex. But Alex learns from every match and continues to get better every time he steps on the mat.

Nico was a HUGE part of Brawler Elite taking 1st at Watertown.

He dominated his bracket this past weekend at Watertown, and was a HUGE part of Brawler Elite bringing home 1st place as a team.

A coach described Nate as a 'little bowling ball' this week. I think of him as more of a 'Wrecking ball'. Either way, this kid is ALL business and brings everything he has every time he steps on the mat. Whether it's practice or a tournament he doesn't mess around. He took on kids that were huge compared to him at Watertown. Nate never gives up and goes after his opponent, like he just stole his lunch money. Nate took 2nd place, only losing to a much bigger champion by 1 point. This kid is going to be helping Brawler Elite win hardware for a long time.

Wallace, also, has natural ability and works extremely hard in the practice room. He is determined. His confidence took a hit when didn't place at Battle Of The Thrones but he got it back this weekend. Wally went up against the kid that took third in his bracket at Battle Of The Thrones. Wally's aggression got him the fall. The official's had to pull him off of kids this weekend. That's the attitude I love. The sky's the limit for this kid.

Kellan double bracketed again this weekend. He took 1st in his age group, ripping through the bracket. In the older age division bracket Kellan took 3rd and had some great matches against elite kids, including the #1 kid at the next age group up. Kellan is just going to continue to climb that ladder.

There is a reason Nico is ranked #1 in the State for his age/weight. He gets up for big matches. Nico has beaten the #2 ranked kid twice this year already. But neither one of these wrestlers will stop working to get to the top.

Giovanni did outstanding at Phoenix, taking 2nd, at his first ever tournament. He got his first ever win and his first ever pin. Outstanding!! Giovanni has only been wrestling for a few months but he is dedicated.

Parker wrestled tough this past weekend at Phoenix and brought home 2nd place. In the finals, Parker got down big early in the match. But he fought his way back almost pulling off the win. This kid never gives up! Heart!

Grayson brought home 2nd place this weekend, only losing to one of the top wrestlers in the state 5-1. Grayson is one of my favorite wrestlers to watch. He is a coaches son and comes from a wrestling family. This kid is a smart wrestler. One of his matches, he gave up a take down and the kid put on a half. Gray wing and rolled him right to his back. 1 second, he's down 0-2 the next he's up 5-2. That's how this kid roles. Literally.

There is a reason Clint is currently ranked #2 in the state for his age/weight. He has, and continues to, pull off big wins. He's taken down some of the top kids in the state. This past weekend he brought home 2nd place at a tough Phoenix tournament losing only to a team mate who is currently ranked #1 in the state. Both Brawlers are the top wrestlers in the state at their age and weight!! Clint took his frustration out on the rest of the bracket pinning and tech falling everyone.

Troy has only been wrestling for a few months. He started wrestling at 9. A tough age to start and your the younger age in your division. Troy had wrestled in a few tournaments but had yet to get a win. That doesn't stop this kid though. In the first match, he lost a tough one 4-0. The next match Troy got his first win and his first pin. He liked the feeling of that so much, he continued it. Troy went on to pin his next 3 opponents, going 4-1 on the day with 4 pins!!! Troy brought home 2nd place today with his first win ever and first pin ever.

Zach had a great tournament, beating one of the top kids in the State. Zach lost to him at the Battle Of The Thrones 9-4 but Zach didn't let that get in his head. Zach wrestled a great match and pulled off the upset 9-6 for a 3 way tie for 1st place. With the criteria Zach earned himself 2nd place.

Justin took 3rd place at Phoenix in another tough bracket. With one of the top kids in the state and a former State Ranked wrestler. The other kids in his bracket were also very good. Justin pulled out some great wins this weekend. He continues to learn, change and improve his technique. This kid is going to be good at the varsity level. I'm excited for his future.

Hunter took 3rd place this weekend. Hunter is a TOUGH kid above everything else. There was a mistake at the tournament and Hunter was put in the wrong age group. So, not only did Hunter wrestle and age up, he had some of the top kids, in the State, in his bracket. Hunter didn't give up at any point and wrestled extremely tough. Couldn't be prouder of this kid!!

Nico was down 1-0 going into the 3rd period and then turned it on and put his opponent on his back for the 5 count and 3 near fall points. Nico held onto a 3-1 victory to take home the NY Top 100 Championship.

Nobody's technique is coming along as fast as Levi's. That technique showed up at the Battle Of The Thrones when Levi made his way to the finals. In the finals Levi only lost to the champion, a former ranked wrestler, by only 3 points.

Alex is a novice wrestler but that doesn't stop him from competing against the best. This was only his 3rd tournament and his first against NY Top 100 competition. Alex wrestled his hardest, taking 3rd place only losing to the champion by 1 point on a controversial call.

Another close match in the finals. Zeeke was down 5-0 in the 3rd period. Zeeke went down looking for the Peterson and found it. He then changed it to a head lock and got his 5 points. With the match tied at 5-5 Zeeke just about got the pin but in the final seconds Zeeke got rolled and lost 7-5. It doesn't get closer then that. Couldn't be more proud of this kid, he NEVER gives up. That's what makes a true champion, not some hammer.

Jacob was so close to a championship and wrestled his butt off. He was undefeated going into his final match and wrestled so hard but feel just short losing by 1 point. This put him in a 3 way tie for first place and the tie breaker didn't go his way as he took 3rd place. Jacob was 1 point away from being in that winners circle. I have no doubt that he will get there.

Justin has years of wrestling experience, but this will be his first full year with Brawler Elite. His attitude and ability to be coached is outstanding. He wants to continue to learn and adapt. His drive is second to none. Even with a lingering injury, he had the drive to finish out and take home the Sabers Championship this past Sunday! One word, heart.

Parker is a TOUGH kid. He has heart and is thirsty to learn. He has some areas we need to work on, but when that is all chipped away, we will see a very successful wrestler. Parker took 3rd this past Sunday, losing some close matches. It wasn't the outcome he was looking for but those loses won't hold him down. They only motivate him. This kid never gives up.

Wallace just started wrestling a few months ago, this was his first tournament. At just 6 years old, Wallace has the aggression to be a champion in this sport. Wallace took that aggression to the mats this past Sunday and took home the Sabers Championship in his first ever wrestling tournament.

Kellan wrestled in 2 age divisions this past Sunday and went 4-0 in the 8&U and 3-1 in the 10&U. Kellan squared off against great wrestlers in both divisions, facing multiple former ranked wrestlers. Kellan took home the championship in the 8&U division beating a former #1 ranked youth wrestler (in the weight class above his) winning a close decision 3-0.

Alex Gallardo

This was Alex's first tournament. He started wrestling with us at the end of the summer. We threw him in with the wolfs and Alex took his lumps but he is a better wrestler because of it. Alex has a natural ability and it shows. I think he has the right attitude and is in the right environment to be very successful in this sport.

Justicio has been with us for 1 month. Yes, only 1 month before going to his first ever wrestling tournament. As a coach, you can see how raw Justicio is but you can also see a lot of natural ability and heart. He showed that heart this past Sunday as he took home the Sabers Championship!
